The Historical Motor Cycle Club of Queensland called at the Sundowner Saloon at Haigslea last Sunday, bringing more than 150 bikes, with riders from as far as the Sunshine and Gold Coasts joining in the first of the club’s combined areas breakfast run for 2024.

Vice President and Events Coordinator Doug Jolliffe said the event proved to be an overwhelming success, with the Haiglea’s Sundowner Saloon proving to be a perfect backdrop for the event.

“This is the first official event for the HMCCQ and in the past we used the surrounding park areas of Wivenhoe Dam for our meetups,” Mr Jolliffe said.

“We originally had an approach from the Sundowners Saloon owners to put some bikes on display, and it’s right on the Warrego Highway. So we put two and two together, and thought ‘why don’t we use the Haigslea venue for a breakfast run?’ and that’s how it came to be.”

The event proved to be a rolling success featuring bikes of all years and styles from the likes of brands including Kawasaki, Harley Davidson, Triumphs and Honda amongst many more, as riders from all walks of life mingled with one another over a coffee and bacon and egg rolls proving to be a rolling success.
