Celebrate the history of Laidley and district in 2025 with Laidley Hospital Auxiliary.

The auxiliary is hard at work organising a fundraising calendar drive and they need your help.

Auxiliary vice president Kerryn Weier has asked Laidley locals to submit their best images for consideration for the 2025 calendar.

“We are asking for submissions of photographs of local scenery and landmarks, the chosen photos will be credited with the photographer’s name,” she said.

Auxiliary treasurer Peter Hooper hoped to see photos of historical items in the mix.

“I’ll be buying a few and sending them to my family members, because they were all brought up in my house and have moved, but they would like to see old memories of Laidley,” he said.

“You may have a photo of an old farm house or an old farm shed.”

President Sue Hooper said the calendar would make the perfect gift.

“There’s a lot of new people that would probably like to buy it and send to family to say ‘this is where we live now, this is the history of Laidley’,” she said.

Mr Hooper said the auxiliary’s goals all came back to patient care, with previous fundraisers allowing the purchase of a mobile bath, monitors, humidifiers, walkers for rehab, fridges, kettles, televisions and a bladder scanner which prevents invasive procedures.

Currently, the auxiliary is fundraising for cuddle beds in palliative care rooms, which calendar sales would support greatly.

“Hopefully they sell well, usually when it’s a charitable thing like that people are a bit more generous,” he said.

Laidley Hospital nursing director Allison McGregor said the fundraising efforts of the auxiliary made a real difference to patients and their families.

“Our wonderful community is so supportive of the auxiliary because they know the funds raised go straight to the hospital,” she said.

“In the past, we’ve been able to buy the extra things like televisions and fridges that make patients and visitors have a better experience while they are with us.”

Photo submissions need to be of high resolution quality for printing purposes.

Submit photos to laidley_hospital@health.qld.gov.au by 31 July.
